When overhauling the cylinder head assembly, replacing as many of the worn or damaged items as possible will simplify the assembly and subsequent adjustments required to set up the valve gear correctly.
Some of the components for close inspection should include the camshaft, paying particular attention to the lobes for pitting and/or wear, valve guides, valves, valve springs, cam-chain, guide and tensioners.
