Kawasaki EJ650 information
The Kawasaki W650 is really a blatant cosmetic copy of the British parallel twins from the 1960’s with one difference, it is better in every way!
The single overhead bevel drive camshaft is a similar system to the Ducati V twins from the 1970’s, and delivers accurate valve timing without the need for chains or belts.
The 49bhp 675cc 8 valve six speed engine is almost vibration free, and propels the 198kg W650 to 110mph, similar to the 1960 Triumph Bonneville on which the styling is based.
As with most retro styled machines the model is hugely popular in Japan, where it is also produced as a 400cc to embrace that countries licensing laws.
Japanese tuning companies like *Daytona produce many customising and tuning parts for these models, from alloy fuel tanks to clip-ons and rear-sets giving a true café racer appeal.
