Don't become all steamed up, if your thermostat is not proving reliable, it would be better if you replaced it before the engine overheats once too many times! A new thermostat is a lot less than removing cylinder heads, skimming them and then replacing with new gaskets!

This is a good product, searched high & low at home for this replacement but to no avail.
Tested and operating fine.

Rarely checked, but very important!

It's one of those parts that dealers rarely bother testing during the economic-life of your motorcycle, and by the time you become the owner: it's broken!

Check by heating it in an oven at around 130 degrees celcius: Ohms should suddenly drop to zero (contact made) when it reaches around 110 degrees celcius.

Honda Shadow overheating.

reviewer: Max Cloose

(5 Stars) - Tuesday, September 28, 2021
My Honda Shadow got overheated and all my coolant was boiling out, I noticed my fan was not working. I checked the fuse which was fine. I check the fan by directly connecting it to the frame, and it worked fine too.
I looked in the workshop manual and saw that the SW.ASSY THERMO regulated the operation of the fan. I ordered the part with CMS, few days later I received the part. It was rather simple to replace and my VT1100 is running smooth again. Part was new and delivery was swift. I am happy.
