Honda XL175 information
The Honda XL175 first entered the market in 1973 and the model continued until 1978.
The XL175 had a 173cc single cylinder OHC 4 stroke engine mated to a 5-speed transmission . The instruments included a speedometer and a tachometer up until 1976, when the tachometer was deleted. Braking was via front and rear cable operated drum brakes. It’s 6 volt electrical system included a 6N6-3B battery and rectifier, running full instrument lighting, warning lights, etc, some later USA models had a more basic direct lighting system with out battery. All models are now considered collectable classics in North America, but not so much in Europe, where the off-road concept at that time was less popular, the Europeans preferring to run genuine Trials machines for green lane and trail riding, trials bikes of that period still able to make a reasonably comfortable road riding experience, unlike today’s seat-less stump jumpers!
