Honda SZX50 information
Introduced in 1998 for the mainly for the ‘Moped’ market of Europe, now dominated by stylish sporty looking ‘twist & go’ scooters. This 3.8ps @ 6750rpm model was fitted with both electric and kick starting. 13” alloy wheels combined with high quality suspension made this model with disc braking front and rear a technical tour de force when released, appealing to the younger novice first time rider. This marketing strategy was helped by making sure that Honda WSB and Honda MOTO GP riders and staff all had access to these as paddock bikes, a marketing strategy that has persisted since the late 1960s when Monkey & Dax machines were similarly available!
