Honda S65 information
Launched in Japan in 1964, and in the USA in 1965, this 6.2bhp machine derived it’s extra power over the old push-rod design with higher revs, facilitated by the ‘over-square’ 44mm X 41.4mm bore & stroke, and of course the newly announced overhead camshaft design allowing closer control over the valve gear.
With a four speed box and manual clutch, this was a proper motorcycle in every sense, borne out by a top speed approaching 60mph with the rider prone!
With chrome side panels and attractive colours in bright red or gloss black, which gave it the nick name in the USA of the mini black bomber, amongst others, this was a handsome machine in miniature, and is sought after today as the rare classic it is!
