This pivot pin tube, lets face it has a right old bashing over time! It is usually ignored until it seizes solid, or is so worn through lack of greasing it rattles up and down in the fulcrum!
Renewal is the best way to sort out the problem, with a judicious amount of grease applied at the same time.
A nice smooth centre stand action. Remove every six month or so, clean and reapply fresh grease - Then it will last indefinitely!
