Refurbishing the carburettors, both externally, for cosmetic reasons, and mechanically to replace worn jets, weak springs and the other vital internal parts can be surprisingly cost effective.
Vapor blasting the carb body, taking care to ensure no blast medium is left on the inside surfaces, and sonic cleaning the internal parts that do not need replacement can bring an old carb set back to an almost new condition - and for a whole lot less than a new carburettor set (if indeed one can be precured).
