Rebuilding carburettors is not easy, but certainly easier when as many old internal parts are substituted with new.
The body of the carburettor should be professionally vapor blasted, the internals that are not renewed should be sonically cleaned and that operation should be complimented with, amongst others, new main jets, slow running jets and needle jets. Or, you could by new NOS carbs while they are (just!) still available ?
