VFR800 fuel filter

My old fuel filter obviously had not been changed for many years, i could not blow through it very easily, and cutting it open, the paper element was black, clogged and falling apart.
The new filter could be blown through with ease, confirming the blocked state of my old filter.
However, the new filter was not the same part as the old one. I have the French version of the VFR800, and so that was the part i chose from the website. The old filter has two short, straight tubes, one at either end of the filter. The new filter as one short straight tube for the outlet, but the inlet is long and goes through 180 degree bend. I had to therefore, cut the old rubber fuel hose short to accommodate the new filter.
