Honda CA102 1960 USA information
Launched in 1962, to replace the C102, the CA102 was an electric start version of the CA100. It was available in four colours, red and white, white, blue and white and black and white. Retaining the same engine and running gear as the CA100, in fact apart from the obvious electric start the machines were pretty much identical.
As with all the ‘Iron’ engine models, these are valued by collectors, and despite being produced in their tens of thousands are not as easy to find as one may imagine.
The electric start version is particularly sought, and the prices good original examples change hands for is remarkable!
This type of Honda that came to have the generic term ‘Step through’ were the back bone of Honda profitability, in the 1960’s, and there is no doubt that the successful racing programme which bought such wonderful and innovative race machinery to the race tracks of the World could not have been financed with out the ‘Super Cub’
