pinion and rachet

I replaced this part together with the ratchet and
the spring for the pinion, because i had issues with the kick start.
Sometimes it wouldn't grip properly and just "slip" when you kick it.
But replacing the parts didn't resolve the problem entirely.
The part itself is good though, fitting perfectly to the rachet. So maybe its my fault after all...
