I have only been riding for about 4 years. started on the 80 cb900c & have killed a 99 gl1500 thanks to a deer. I currently ride a 98 gl1500 identical to the dead one but only cuz it is a dead match for the trailer. LOL
I still have the 900 BUT it is slowly going under a change. I am turning it into a florida gators bike cuz I live in UK territory & like to hear them complain to me about it. once I move away from here I will change it back to original colors OR maybe I will sell it in florida for a killer price. ROFL. I am on the fence about selling it cuz the bike is 36 years old. I have a friend whom is restoring his father-in-law's 42 indian & I like hearing the stories of how people stop him to talk about the old bike.
I shoot for no less that 5000 miles (8100 km) a year. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to make long camp/rides but have only gone on one so far. it was a 2200 mile (3500 km) round trip and was only 1 week. I am planning a 2 week ride for sept of 2017. I hope to make 3000-4000 miles (4800-6400km) on that trip.
