Yamaha raised the bar, more or less beyond reach when the R6 was launched. Their successful race programme allowed all the technology to be transferred to one of Yamaha’s most popular sports bikes ever, regularly topping out as the best selling sports 600 throughout Europe, battling with the Honda CBR600 for the honours.
The first machine to have a fly by wire throttle system, delivering a superb linear throttle response.

Its 120 BHP @ 13000rpm engine delivered a stunning performance package in a machine weighing in at just 169kg, with race proven handling to match. Today it goes on dominating this market niche, and now with Yamaha’s Moto GP success, will surely only get even better as the new technologies are included in the updated model.
