Replacing the superb XR180, the XR200 picked up the mantle where it’s predecessor left off. Using the same single overhead camshaft two valve engine, with even more power and torque . It’s wide power band, nimble handling and bullet proof reliability ensured it’s success, and made it the best selling machine of it’s type three consecutive years in North America, it’s primary market.
The radial four valve 199cc model launched in 1984 made a serious competition enduro, combining the sweet handling of the XR200 with a much sharper engine, thanks to multi-valve technology and a higher compression ratio.
