When overhauling the transmission, replacing as many of the worn and/or damaged components as possible will simplify the assembly process required to set up the gearbox correctly.
Also, try and avoid mixing and interfacing worn parts with new - this can cause premature wear of the new components.
This will improve the change quality and help achieve a smooth, quiet running transmission assembly.
