Announced for the model year 1986, Honda were still keen to push the virtues (or lack of them?) of four stroke trials machines. This model really aimed at the lighter junior rider, was competent enough for novice competitors to learn their trade, it was both user friendly and light.
The single overhead camshaft four stroke engine with six speed box, was reasonably powerful for it’s weight, based as it was an the old CB125S engine, by then a near 20 year old design.
Today these TLR200 Reflex trials bikes are mostly used mainly as trail machines, for which they are ideally suited, although top speed of a vibration fuelled 50mph limits useful extended on road use.
Due to the relatively light weight, they have also gained popularity with the owner’s of camper vans.
As with most four stroke Honda off-road machinery, there is a strong collector interest, especially as the earlier TL models become less affordable.
