Suzuki GT185 1973 1974 1975 1976 1977 (K) (L) (M) (A) (B) USA (E03) information
A cracking little two stroke twin when launched in 1973, this 21hp screamer simply trounced the competition from Honda with the CB175; by now being de-tuned for better reliability for owners who showed no mechanical sympathy, and was the equal of the Yamaha RD200. The drum brake model was the prettiest, and the disc brake that replaced it was, in the wet at least, pretty awful!
It’s lightness with a good stiff frame gave it class leading handling. The model was discontinued in 1977; this capacity class by now losing favour in Europe, with manufacturers turning to full 200’s instead.
The ram air head was probably more a style gimmick than an affective cooling method, and was used throughout the air-cooled GT range of models
