i have put a new battery on my cb550 four k the problem is that the has no power when i turn on the ignition, is this the cause of my bikes problem? the bike has been stood for some very considerable time, will replacing the magnetic switch sort out the problem? or is there a simpler problem that i just have not thought of? i have cleaned the battery terminals and this has not done anything.
any help would be greatly apreciated

Has the battery been charged, and can you measure a current on the batt? If yes, the starter relay may be busted, or there could be a loose cable. Start by sitting down and making a proper list of the routing of the current from the batt to the starter. Make a check list and go step by step untill you find the problem..
