The Camshaft profile is the basic supplier of engine performance, a worn or damaged cam will not open and close the valves as accurately, and cause potential damage to the rocker arms. There are cheap alternatives available from Far Eastern manufacturers of varying quality, so long as their profiles are correct, and the case hardening process has been carried out correctly, and of course the correct high specification metal was used in the casting process? Probably easier to order a genuine Honda cam-shaft, in the knowledge that all the manufacturing process's have quality assurance from the raw casting through to the final inspection. We do recommend replacement of the rocker arms as a matter of course, to avoid damaging the new camshaft with pitted and scored rocker arm faces.
