Subject: Loss of Power

Just ran across this site, and thought I'd throw this out there ... Have an '85 700 that runs well. Have done a lot to replace electrical components and cooling parts to get it highway ready. At issue: After the bike is warm (20 minutes or so at speed), it will lose power -- almost go to one cylinder -- and resulting engine flooding. After pulling over for a few minutes, it runs just fine again. Am considering paying a carb guy to rebuild; have had others speculate it's an electrical prob... Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.  reply to this

What about the spark plug? It could be overheated after a while.

There is some information on it here:

Thank you for the reply and the link! Will definitely spend some time there ... I did replace the plugs last summer with new OE plugs. The old ones were relatively clean with just a bit of carbon/oil. Am working on getting permission from the wife to buy a new Shadow ... We'll see how that goes! - Mike
