The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride will draw Portland's best-dressed motorcyclists Sunday

This modern world just isn't made for men who sport waxed mustaches, don smoking jackets and ride classic motorcycles around town (the world outside Portland, anyway). So what is a gentleman to do, who doesn't feel welcome, say, sporting a bow tie and a tweed jacket, idling at a traffic light on his refurbished 1923 Indian Scout?


He gets together with all his like-minded fellows, is what he does, and takes part in the annual worldwide event known simply as the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.

This Sunday, Sept. 28, marks the third year for the big ride, which drew 10,000 riders across 145 cities around the world in 2013. Organizers expect roughly twice that for the 2014 ride.
