First Look: Photos of Yamaha FC-Dii Fuel Cell Bike
A couple of weeks ago, we waited with bated breadth to find out how the new Yamaha Fuel Cell bike prototype would look like in the faux-real world of the International Tokyo Motor Show, and thanks to Gadget Lab reader Kyle, we can now find out. Check out the pics to the right.
Fc_dii_4 The FC Dii had its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show this past Saturday and will be featured in the main hall of the show until November 11th. It looks exactly the same as the previously released photos, other than the fact that the backseat seems a bit longer (and easier to ride) than the photo prototype. There’s also no blue-tinged hue in the body of the bike. We’ll still wait until we see this one out in the actual traffic wild.
Fc0112_4The FC Dii runs on methanol fuel, and includes, according to the spec sheet at the show, the highest level of power density in the 1kW class, as well as a detachable lithium-ion battery for quick recharging, and like we mentioned previously, a 30% effienciency standard for a DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) system.
