Kawasaki KZ250D1 KZ250 1980 USA CANADA / MPH KPH information
With less power than the out going and much emasculated KH250 triple, this 27bhp sports OHC four stroke twin was not as fast but in a different league as far as economy and general running costs were concerned!
Classic values though show that the drama and sound of a ‘stroker’ triple from the same company beats sensible reality every time.
The truth was that the 250cc market whilst as buoyant in Japan then as it is today, was dying in Europe and the U.K especially, who had changed the learner legal riding capacity from 250cc down to 125cc.
A few different styles came and went, as well as toothed belt drive and custom styling with a North American influence. Not exactly lack lustre, but certainly lacking excitement one of Kawasaki’s less interesting designs!
