The TLR200 has a unique speedometer cable and was used only for the two years it was made.
Does anyone know of a cable that will interchange?
I have answered my own question. I ordered a cable for a 1986 Honda XR200R. The ends match and it fits fine. However, it is about 6" longer than stock, so it sticks out to the side a bit, like the older street scramblers, etc.
This is fine while riding in open areas. But, it would be difficult to secure it to the lower fork leg, as on the original, since this would cause a sharp bend at that attachment point (this is what causes the originals to snap). I would remove this cable if riding in close quarters, where there is a lot of brush. Use the old cable's hub end to plug the drive in the front wheel. This will help keep debris out of the drive gear.
