Honda S90 SUPER 1964 USA information
When this model was launched in 1965, ‘Cycle World’ in their first test of the then new overhead camshaft called it ‘A remarkable little machine’. And that model with close to 8bhp @9500rpm was certainly that! Apart form the obvious change of push-rod to OHC valve operation, the new S90 also had hydraulically damped telescopic forks, and was a real motorcycle in every way. ‘A top speed of 65mph was achievable, with the all alloy engine remaining cool even at sustained maximum speed’ was also reported by ‘Cycle World’.
The styling matched the performance, with nicely understated and tasteful parts such as the front mudguard that looked like it had been taken straight off one of Honda’s Grand Prix bikes of the time!
