Essential to replace this 8.4 x 2.4 O-RING when removing and replacing the fork top nut - With a new genuine Honda item preferably!

Rebuilding and restoring the complete front fork assembly is easier and less expensive when new parts are used. This fork rib is a prime example! Trying to restore and re-chrome the original will cost many times more both in pure costs and time spent.
