Produced from 1983 through to 1990 this four stroke enduro model enjoyed success with novice riders, the mild mannered 2 valve engine delivered enough performance to make it interesting, without the violent (exiting?) power delivery of a tuned two stroke.

Novices gaining their teeth on these lightweights would, according to market annalists of the period, tend to upgrade to motorcycles from the same manufacturer. Suzuki covered the four-stroke enduro range nicely, producing competent machinery that was especially popular in its key market, north America.
