I have the original spark plug wires on my 1971 CB 750 and want to replace them. They are rock hard and after changing the spark plugs the cops fell off the wires.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The plug wires are built into the coils on old Hondas. They are not designed to be replaced. One trick I learned 30 years ago with a Honda 360 is if the leads are not too fried where they enter the coils. You can cut off all but one inch and install plug caps. I used an old distributor cap off a car. I cut off where the wires plugged in and grinded them down til I had a small cap. JB welded them to my coils. Then I fashioned up a set of leads using new racing wires and fresh NGK plug caps. Now I had coils with replacable leads. Your other option is to shell out $75.00 for two new coils from Classic Motorcycle Supply.
Good Luck
The CB900 750 of the second generation came with removable wires at the coil. If the new wire has a copper core (and is a ignition wire) add a oring at the coil side and use you mounting brackets. That is duel over head cam 80 - 84.
