Honda CA110

Honda CA110

photo | owners
Available in red or black, the CA110 Sports was launched in 1962, and with a ‘proper’ manual clutch and a full and genuine 5bhp was a great little sports machine, and able to top 50mph, compare this to later so called sports 50’s from Honda, the Dream 50 for example unable, mostly due to electronic restriction, more than 40mph.
The original ‘Iron’ overhead valve push-rod engine was a peach, would rev through the stratosphere, in fact no engine with push rod valve actuation revved higher then or now!
Early models had three speeds, but were soon to get a much more useful four-speed transmission, making this into a proper sports machine in miniature. The superb aesthetics of that upswept exhaust with heat shield was just the icing on the cake!
As with all the overhead valve ‘iron’ engine Honda cub based models, the classic values remain high, and particularly so for the sports models that changed peoples perceptions of small capacity motorcycling forever.
