Subject: Bike won't start after sitting for 30 years I have torn down and cleaned the carbs, cleaned the tank and petcock, cleaned air filters, replaced head gasket and plugs, set the points and I can't get the bike started. I have backfire on almost every kick. What do I check next? reply to this |

Subject: Re: Re: Bike won't start after sitting for 30 years Backfire suggests to early ignition, you should check a manual, which is essential to work on this kind of process. eliminate all things that can be wrong; the bike is firing so the electrical system including plugs, leads and coils are good. Are the leads on the right way, it's easy to switch them over, specially with equal length leads.. Is the ignition backing plate in the right position? is the point gap okay? did you turn down the heater when you left the house and check for your mother in law..
